Ruth Biddulph

Area Commercial Manager, Bowmer and Kirkland Limited

Ruth has just under 20 years of experience in the construction industry all of which have been with Bowmer and Kirkland Limited, one of the UK’s largest Main Contractors. She joined straight from school as a trainee Quantity Surveyor and has progressed to her current role as Commercial Lead for B+K Western. Having worked hard to establish a new business unit, she is aspiring to become B+K’s first female Commercial Director and hopes that this will provide inspiration for both male and female employees alike, showing there are opportunities for all staff.

During her time at B+K, she has been influential in establishing and running its Training Board, represented B+K as a sponsor of the Construction News’ Inspire Me campaign, has worked with various colleges and Pearson to help roll out the T-Levels, assisted the RICS with their employer forums sharing B+Ks training programme to assist smaller businesses with their apprenticeship training and has delivered many successful projects ensuring client satisfaction is always paramount and customer relations are maintained.

Since 2022, she has been responsible for Client development, securing projects, recruiting our new teams and all commercial reporting. Ruth has also developed a Commercial team who are equally as passionate about this industry as she is.

In 2018 Ruth became a member of the RICS and in 2020 became one of the youngest fellows of the RICS based on her commitment to the Construction Industry.

Promoting professional careers in the construction industry is something she is incredibly passionate about. Ruth strongly believes by working closely with education providers we will inevitably correct the imbalance of females within the construction industry. Being able to support the mentoring circle and help those on the mentoring programme will assist in preparing like-minded females for the challenges they will inevitably face and provide them with the tools to overcome issues such as imposter syndrome. Having seen the behavioural shift during her time in the industry she is both excited and optimistic about what the future of this profession holds.

Outside of work, Ruth enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching Rugby and cooking.
