Julia Housden

Gleeds, Director

An experienced Real Estate Professional Chartered Quantity Surveyor, with over 14 years’ experience, focusing on delivering value for Clients across their corporate Real Estate Strategy. Her experience stretches across many sectors within the industry; ranging from Occupier Fit-Out to large Residential projects, Education, Higher Education, Healthcare, Leisure, Data Centres, MoJ, and projects involving the Conservation adaptation and refurbishment of historical buildings.

Julia’s success and motivational drive revolves around a Story which begun at an early age, being highly influenced by her Mother.  Being only 18 when her Mother moved to the UK, English being her second language, she re-trained in all her professional studies to become a Chartered Surveyor and became a successful businesswoman in the industry. Her drive and determination to never give up, and forming part of the minority in the industry then;  is something that has encouraged Julia through her own career and carries her mother’s legacy to shape and be able to make a difference. Her Mother’s life has been an inspiration and regardless of the challenges she has always managed to overcome these. Now it’s Julia’s chance to make a difference to the Young Women in Construction.

Her Purpose is to Explore and Harness the inner challenges of life and help shape the up and coming talent within the industry and give something back. Julia has a passion to work with others, allowing everyone to believe in themselves and to find their purpose and their story that can lead them to their own success. Being true to oneself is the first key to success; and Julia hopes to be able to continue influencing others across the industry.

She holds a Director position within a Global Real Estate firm, where she heads up the Cost Consultancy division within CBRE GWS and oversees many accounts across a variety of Clients predominately within the Occupier Fit-Out market.

Prior to joining CBRE, Julia was with a leading consultancy practice Mace Cost Consultancy; where she held a senior position, managing her own team in the Housing and Regeneration sector, across a portfolio of projects circa £750m. Additionally, she was the key lead on the pre-contract studies for two new Regeneration schemes in the South West extending through many sectors.

As an ambassador for the younger talent in the industry Julia is delighted to be part of new initiative that can create a platform for personal growth and stimulus within the Women’s network. With a Management degree background, she understands the success to business is all built around developing people, knowledge and inspirational leadership.
