Clare Sawyer

Clare is an Asset Manager at Norges Bank Investment Management, responsible for the wholly owned Central London portfolio.

With over 18 years’ experience in the Real Estate industry, working predominantly within property and asset management, Clare is seasoned in most asset classes, managing portfolios and teams in Central London and the rest of the UK. Working closely with a range of Institutional Investors, Private Equity and Pension Funds she has been involved in new developments; challenging refurbishments; soft landings; and onboarding of occupiers into new builds and existing properties.

Clare understands that smooth day-to-day operations and the improvement of occupier experience in all assets are fundamental in ensuring the longevity, enjoyment, and value of a building. But the opportunity to work collaboratively in a team – sharing knowledge, embracing challenges and improve learning – is what has sustained her interest over the years.

A degree in Sports & Exercise Science from Birmingham University meant a career in Real Estate wasn’t an obvious choice. However, her love of buildings and architecture was ignited when she joined Workman LLP on its graduate training programme. Clare found the hands-on experience provided ‘from the ground up’ training to develop the knowledge and understanding of commercial property an exciting prospect, alongside studying at the University of Reading, College of Estate Management.

In 2017 Clare moved to NBIM to join the Real Estate team, focusing on the Central London wholly owned portfolio, and assisting with developing the asset management operations, strategies, and long-term investment approach. It’s a move she’s really valued, particularly the Fund’s values; every day is different, and with it brings the opportunity to expand knowledge, meet new people, and learn new skills.

Outside of work Clare loves the London restaurant scene and entertaining and cooking at home, sourcing culinary inspiration through her love of travel, with her husband and young son.
