Sarah is a Board Director at TMJ Interiors, responsible for the Pre-Contract function of the business. Starting at TMJ in 2009 as Business Development Manager just as the recession was kicking in, Sarah fondly remembers the drive and enthusiasm required to grow the business in testing times whilst trying to navigate a new industry and build robust relationships. After 8 years working with the team, growing the business in terms of turnover and team members Sarah was promoted to the Board; the first female Board member in the companies 40 year history.
As a tier 1 joinery contractor in the market, TMJ has worked on some of the industries most prestigious projects with some of the most highly regarded main contractors and architects. Heading up the ‘shop window’ Sarah has a real passion regarding people, customer service, collaborative working and building a successful team. She has recently been appointed as Diversity Champion within the business and has a keen interest in making the construction industry the industry of choice for a lot more females.
As a mum to an 18 month old and step mum to a 10 and 13 year old, not only is Sarah kept busy but she understands the importance of empowerment and opportunity. She feels there still seems to be an ‘old fashioned’ undercurrent in the industry surrounding women juggling a career and family life and this is something she is determined to change.
