Becky is Head of Legal at Multiplex, a global construction contractor. In her role, Becky provides strategic legal and risk management advice, as well as providing legal oversight in relation to the business’ portfolio of projects. She takes a hands-on role for the full lifecycle of the projects, working collaboratively with project teams to help them achieve their goals. The daily cut and thrust of construction is what makes the job so rewarding.
Becky originally qualified in Scottish law in 2006 and re-qualified in England and Wales in 2009. She began professional working life as a solicitor in private practice, before moving in-house into a multinational engineering firm and latterly moving contractor-side. Prior to taking on her current role with Multiplex in 2018, Becky worked at Laing O’Rourke where she worked extensively on projects in the Middle East as well as on UK projects. She has dealt with residential buildings, commercial buildings, research and development facilities, sports stadiums, hospitals, data centres and more. Becky particularly enjoys the huge variety of opportunities that the construction industry offers and the working relationships (and friendships) that develop through each one of those opportunities. She is excited to be able to extoll the virtues of the industry through Mentoring Circle, at the same time as actively encouraging and supporting diversity in the workplace.
But life is not all about work. Like the rest of the world, Becky cannot wait for a holiday in the sun, when we are allowed to travel again. In the meantime, she is spending her free time leaping around the sitting room trying to keep fit, taking art classes and taking care of her new puppy.
