
Carla Riddell is the Chief Strategy Officer at Serica, bringing nearly 30 years of experience in the energy industry. In her current role, she leads the company’s strategic direction across Subsurface, ESG, Assurance, and Innovation, helping shape Serica’s future in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.
Carla’s career spans a range of senior leadership roles. She previously served as Head of Strategy at Centrica and as Senior Vice President at Spirit Energy, where she was instrumental in evaluating a major development opportunity West of Shetland. Her recent work includes overseeing a portfolio of renewable Biopower and Energy from Waste assets as Group Director of Assets at Evero, and leading offshore renewables and power distribution businesses as Chief Strategy Officer at Xodus.
She holds a degree in Geology from Durham University, a master’s in Palaeontology from Sheffield University, and an MBA from Robert Gordon University. A passionate advocate for education and mentorship, Carla has been an Honorary Lecturer at Aberdeen University for over a decade and actively supports emerging talent through various mentoring initiatives.
Carla is a Fellow of both the Energy Institute and the Geological Society. Outside of work, she is a proud parent to a young son, aged 7.
