
Heather Holbrook is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Director for Cost Management Scotland at Thomas & Adamson, where she leads the QS teams across both Edinburgh and Glasgow. With over seventeen years of experience in the construction industry, Heather is recognised for her strategic leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering best value for clients.
Heather began her career as a trainee Quantity Surveyor with Reid Associates while studying part-time at Glasgow Caledonian University, graduating with a first-class honours degree. She joined Thomas & Adamson in 2011 and gained Chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 2013. In Spring 2025, she achieved her FRICS qualification, reflecting her continued dedication to professional excellence.
Heather is deeply committed to the development of future talent in the industry. She previously served as a mentor and industry advisor to Glasgow Caledonian University before being appointed as External Examiner for their Full Time, Graduate Apprenticeship, and Part Time Quantity Surveying programmes. She also oversees Thomas & Adamson’s RICS APC programme across all disciplines, supporting candidates on their path to chartership.
As a STEM ambassador, Heather actively promotes careers in construction and quantity surveying to young people. She is a mum of one boy and enjoys weekend walks and hikes with her husband and seven-year-old, exploring the outdoors together whenever possible. Heather is also a regular at the gym and is currently participating in the StrongHER programme with a personal trainer. In her downtime, she loves diving into a good self-help book or tuning into inspiring podcasts—Mel Robbins is her current favourite. In 2022, she invested in career coaching, which she found hugely beneficial in shaping her leadership style and professional growth.
