Joanna Tano

Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate Partners, Head of Research Europe

Joanna is currently Head of Research for Europe for Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate Partners (previously BMO Real Estate Partners) and is responsible for setting the Research strategy for the international platform, delivering investment and strategy advice to the firm and its clients on market and sector opportunities, challenges and risks across Europe, based on thematic influences that continuously evolve and impact the world around us and our integration with the built environment. Working with stakeholders Joanna plays an active role in portfolio composition and strategy and business development opportunities including product launches and uses her experience in economic and property market analysis to support the investment decision making process.

Prior to joining Columbia Threadneedle Real Estate Partners, Joanna ran the research and investment strategy team at Cromwell Property Group, an Australian based investment management firm. Before that Joanna had responsibility for the EMEA Research team at Cushman & Wakefield and spearheaded the transformation of the 140+ strong function across 15 countries through the US$2 billion merger with DTZ, ensuring that the function could realise the company’s ambitions and growth targets. She has also worked in the social housing space servicing as the Area Services Manager for the Kensington & Chelsea branch of the then Notting Hill Housing Group, focusing on regeneration and community projects – the S in ESG.

Joanna has 20 years of experience in commercial real estate research and strategy through roles held in the United Kingdom and France and holds a Joint Honours degree in Psychology & Sociology from City, University of London. She is also a Committee member of the Society of Property Researchers.

A thirst for knowledge, an appreciation of cultural diversity and a passion for foreign travel have been instilled from a young age, having lived in 7 countries spanning 3 continents. Joanna is a keen amateur photographer and has formal wine qualifications from the Wine & Sprit Education Trust and she regularly help out with wine production at a family-run and increasingly well-known winery in Cyprus.
