Katharine Walsh

Marketing & Communications Director, Delancey

Katharine joined Delancey as Marketing & Communications Director in 2010. Since then she has overseen media relations, public consultation, crisis management, marketing and branding for Delancey and the key assets within the portfolio.  She played a key role in the creation and launch of the East Village brand identity – the legacy name for the London 2012 Athletes’ Village – prior to the full time team being put into place. Her work and team helped ensure East Village was successfully positioned amongst the press and public as London’s newest neighbourhood, and the marketing campaign was the recipient of a numerous awards including the IPM Gold award in the Financial and Professional Services category, and an IPM Silver award in the Shopping Centre Marketing category for its experiential marketing campaign. In addition to managing PR and marketing for the assets within the company, Katharine also overseas Delancey’s charity and sponsorship commitments, including The National Portrait Gallery and the Delancey UK Schools’ Chess Challenge (the largest chess tournament in the world), as well as numerous other ongoing charitable activities. She sits on the DEI Committee, Risk Committee and Steering Committee for the company and is passionate about mentoring and the elevation of others in their early careers.

Seasoned in developing and managing stakeholder and community engagement programmes, internal and external communication plans and strategic PR and marketing launches on a national and international level, prior to joining Delancey in 2010, Katharine spent 5 years in senior communication roles with the travel and hospitality sector at a number of top 5*hotel groups, which included head of PR for the Grove Country Estate and Director of Communication at the Intercontinental Hotel Park Lane.  Prior to that she spent 6 years working for a wide range of luxury, retail and blue-chip brands, from BP and Kimberley Clark to Prada Beauty, House of Fraser and Tesco.  This included the overseeing the PR launch for the House of Fraser flagship store in the City of London in 2004.

Katharine graduated from Newcastle University with an Honours degree in English Literature, and subsequently obtained a post-graduate diploma with Honours in Public Relations from the Cardiff School of Journalism at Cardiff University.  She has two giant horses (neither of which she’s allowed to ride due to falling off too many times!) and teaches yoga, breathwork and meditation to friends and family in her spare time.
