Marisa Steyn is QS partner at G&T – an independent construction and property consultancy working across all sectors of the built environment. She has more than 16 years’ experience in the construction industry. Marisa is originally from South Africa and relocated to London in 2006 when she started her career at Davis Langdon (later AECOM).
Marisa has a very broad sector experience. She started her career working on the Westfield London Shopping Centre, and since then have worked on a multitude of projects including residential (from social to high end), mixed use, education, retail, warehousing and manufacturing. Some of the highlights of her career have been delivering a high end private residential property in Belgravia, working on Hawley Wharf in Camden and delivering the cost planning on Morden Wharf – a significant residential development in Greenwich. Most recently she has led the cost management team supporting the country’s first gigafactory which is planned to be built in Blyth, Northumberland.
Marisa is passionate about supporting young females in the industry to reach their potential. She has been part of the G&T mentoring scheme for a number of years (both as a mentor and mentee) and have been an informal mentor to a lot of junior team members of the years. She is a good listener and a fierce supporter of the young talent in her team.
As a married mum of two young children (8 and 5) and a very fluffy dog, Marisa understands the challenges faced by working parents. Her children are her pride and joy and she loves spending time with them or getting lost in good book. Having grown up playing the violin, the piano and signing in choirs she also loves music and theatre, and whilst she has lived in the UK for 16 years she will always support the Springboks in rugby!
