Maryanne is a Chartered Environmentalist working for offshore wind developer Thistle Wind Partners as their Onshore Consents Manager for ScotWind Projects Ayre and Bowdun.
Having spent her childhood in Latin America and teenage years in Scotland she developed a fascination with the natural world and chose to study Biology at University in America. She returned to Scotland for family and to obtain an MSc in Marine Resource Development and Protection at Edinburgh’s Heriot Watt University. During her MSc the introduction to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) put her on the path to a life long career in EIA; working to balance the tension between development and protecting the environment.
Maryanne has worked in EIA for over 20 years, delivering environmental assessments for projects at all development phases; from the initial planning through procurement to construction supervision. She has extensive experience managing and leading projects in a variety of sectors including renewables (onshore wind, hydro and solar), highways, bridges and rail. Her projects included nationally significant infrastructure such as Queensferry Crossing and A9 Dualling. Before joining Thistle Wind Partners she was Divisional Director and Scottish EIA Lead for Jacobs Engineering.
Maryanne is passionate about her work as an Environmentalist and a strong advocate for professional Chartership. She has volunteered with the Institute of Environmental Sciences for several years, serving on the Ethics Committee, Application Review Panel and is also one of IES’s Chartership Assessors. She has mentored candidates seeking Chartership with the Institute for several years, providing coaching and support to members requiring a re-sit and additional interviews.
Maryanne is happiest outdoors, she is proud mum of two sport mad boys, loves watching sport live and walking her giant playful Labrador, Odin. She regularly plays golf and enjoys travelling, often combining travelling and attending sporting events.
