
Samantha is a Fellow of the RICS, working both as an Associate Professor in Building Sustainability at the University of the West of England, Bristol and for the National Trust. She gained her PhD on domestic energy efficiency in 2015 and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. At the National Trust she started as a Building Surveyor in the South West in 2017, progressing to Senior Building Surveyor and in 2021 joined a team of senior building professionals as one of their youngest member. She was a finalist in the Women of the Future Real Estate, Infrastructure and Construction category in 2019, and winner of the RICS Matrics Young Building Surveyor of the Year in 2020.
Samantha has previously held roles in the UK and USA, and has led on projects both in industry and in academia. She has been principal investigator on research projects for government and organisations, including leading a team to explore the carbon reduction potential of the historic building stock.
She is a strong advocate for championing ‘what we do’, outreach, and inclusivity and diversity. Samantha previously sat on the RICS Matrics UK Board contributing to national strategy for the early career network ‘RICS Matrics’.
