After studying politics, Sophie’s career started in Westminster before moving into financial services where she held a variety of public affairs, communications’ and sustainability roles for over twenty years. She then made the move into construction, joining the Kier Group in 2020. Kier Group is a construction and infrastructure services company and a strategic supplier to the UK Government delivering projects of all sizes, complexities and sectors, with a particular emphasis on road, rail, education, healthcare, custodial, defence, utilities and property investment.
In her role as Corporate Affairs Director, Sophie looks after Kier’s engagement across central and local government and industry bodies and is responsible for Kier’s internal and external communications and marketing.
Sophie is passionate about ensuring strong links between business and society and helping organisations build brand value, personality, purpose and impact. She is also committed to helping build chances and careers for people whatever their background and has supported this through extensive mentoring and coaching.
In 2019, Sophie was awarded Freedom of the City of London for services to Diversity and was named in 2022’s PR Week UK Power Book.
Outside of work, Sophie has completed Ironman, swim marathons and competed for the Great Britain age group triathlon team. She also looks after her teenage daughter who, as well as dressmaking, is committed to junior rowing, Army cadets and currently wants to be a blacksmith!
